  • Overview

    Under the general direction of the Resident Care Coordinator, the Transportation Aide is responsible for providing resident transportation to and from appointments safely and timely.

    Responsibilities

    Transports residents to and from appointments safely and timely.
    Keep confidential and secure medical/personal information accompanying resident to and from appointments. Utilize appropriate channels of communication when reporting information.
    Inform the Resident Care Coordinator/ Supervisor-in-Charge of any significant occurrences regarding the resident during transports/appointments. 
    Help maintain the self respect, personal dignity and physical safety of each resident..
    Assist in scheduling appointments/follow-up appointments to best utilize and organize the transportation aide’s time and schedule.
    Maintain transportation logs neatly and accurately.
    Keep gasoline in the vehicle at all times.
    Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle (interior daily; exterior per schedule).
    Alert Administrator of any problems with the vehicle.
    Report any and all accidents/incidents with the residents or vehicles to the Administrator as soon as possible after the occurrences.
    Works cooperatively with all staff and relates favorably to residents and physician’s office staff.
    Displays enthusiasm in promoting a positive attitude.
    Transports official forms to and from physician offices, clinics, etc.
    Assists with Activity outing transportation when scheduled.

    Qualifications

    1)      Must be able to document CNA certification or completion of PCA 80 hour training.

    2)      Must possess a working knowledge of resident care, particularly with the geriatric and adult special care needs   

             population.

    3)      Must have knowledge and awareness of restorative/rehabilitative principles and techniques to assure assistance with 

             specific resident care areas (transfer techniques, ambulation assistance, etc.)

    4)      Must be at least twenty one (21) years of age.

    5)      Must have the required references and criminal record check.

    6)      Must have a current and valid North Carolina driver’s license.

    7)      Must have a safe driving record

    8)      Must have the required two-step Tuberculosis (TB) testing in accordance with HC Adult care Home Rules

     

    Work Environment

    Well lighted, air-conditioned/heated environment; variable weather conditions when driving. May be exposed to residents with communicable diseases or confused residents who become combative.

    Latex gloves for standard precautions.
