  • Overview

    The Low Income Housing Tax Credit Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Director of Compliance and Property Management to maintain and assure compliance with all LIHTC regulations as well as funding from additional sources.  This will include resident eligibility, maintenance of tenant records and the daily operations of an on-site rental office.   


    1. Monitor systems and procedures to ensure uniform compliance with LIHTC and all Federal and local fair Housing regulations and ordinances.


    1. Review LIHTC Recertification applications to ensure income eligibility and complete income verifications on an annual basis.


    1. Works collaboratively with the Intake Department to ensure full occupancy of the program.


    1. Interview tenants regarding household composition, income, and assets.


    1. Gather income and asset verification documents from third parties, calculate household gross income and prepare Tenant Income Certification forms.


    1. Organize and purge tenant files as needed.


    1. Conducts routine in-house audits of all resident files to ensure that they are complete and accurate in relation to tax credit compliance.


    1. Provide assistance and expertise to residential staff involved with financial applications, re- certifications and entitlement concerns when needed.


    1. Maintain the day to day operations of an on-site rental office.


    1. Attend all recommended / mandated trainings to stay current with compliance regulations and Fair Housing Laws.


    1. Follows all safety rules and regulations for self, residents, and staff.


    1. Performs any other duties for the effective operation of the program.


    Needs to meet one of the following criteria:


    1. Bachelors Degree in Business or Human Services plus one year of experience working with public entitlements.
    2. Associates Degree in Business or Human Services plus at least two years working with public entitlements.
    3. High School Diploma or GED plus three years experience working with public entitlements.


    *In addition to the above criteria, this position also requires a clean NYS driving record as outlined in DePaul’s personnel policy.
