Overview

The Regional Housing Specialist is responsible to provide coverage of supportive housing services in absence of the sites permanent supportive housing staff to ensure that tenants don’t experience an interruption in services. This position will also provide additional support to sites as requested by Program Manager based on changing needs of regional sites. This position will provide enhancements in programming, marketing, and engagement at all Single Site Supportive sites.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop, monitor, and update housing support plans to identify which services DePaul is to provide to maximize client’s success.

  2. Assists in linkage to any necessary support services such as mental health treatment, medical, vocational, and educational services.

  3. Networks with support services such as mental health treatment, medical, vocational, and educational services.

  4. Assists clients in accessing and keeping all financial entitlements they are eligible for.

  5. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records.

  6. Responsible for maintaining up to date periodic reports (MRT, Medicaid Monthly checks, etc.)

  7. Assist with referral process for evaluation and intake of potential program residents.

  8. Develop knowledge of various community agencies in Western NY region and develop working relationships with Western NY region SPOA, CoC, etc. to be able to provide seamless coverage of services.

  9. Assists the other staff in the building by performing essential duties in their absence.

  10. Assist with ongoing marketing and outreach for the 55 and Over and Mental Health Supportive programs.

  11. Develop working knowledge of supportive housing eligibility criteria and vacancies across all Single Site Supportive programs to assist with phone calls and online inquiries.

  12. Assist regional sites with screening potential applicants to establish an active waiting list to ensuring sites maintain full occupancy.

  13. Travel to regional sites.

  14. Make quarterly contacts with potential applicants on waiting lists to keep lists up to date and active.

  15. Communicate and coordinate activities, resources and recreation ideas across all sites.

  16. Coordinate program-wide trainings.

  17. Coordinate voter registration at all sites.

  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of mental health and/or specials needs population experience preferred (per site needs).

Experience: One year working in human services field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other: Valid New York State driver’s license. Must meet qualifications set by agency’s clean driver record policy. Use of personal vehicle required.
