Housing Specialist

DePaul's Starting Line Apartments, located in Utica, NY, are now hiring a full-time Housing Specialist! The Housing Specialist is responsible for the oversight of clients enrolled in the Supported Housing portion of the SP SRO housing.

DIRECT SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop, monitor and update housing support plans to identify which services DePaul is to provide to maximize clients success.
2. Assists in linkage to any necessary support services such as mental health treatment, medical, vocational and educational services.
3. Networks with support services such as mental health treatment, medical, vocational and educational services.
4. Assists clients in accessing and keeping all financial entitlements they are eligible for.
5. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
6. Assists the other staff in the building by performing essential duties in their absence.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Attend county SPOA meetings as part of DePaul’s intake team to help with admission decisions.
•   Assess referrals to determine if SP SRO is an appropriate level of care for individuals.

Education:       Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of mental health and/or specials needs population experience (per site needs).

Experience:     One year working in human services field preferred; or equivalent combination of  education and experience.

Other:              Valid New York State driver’s license.  Must meet qualifications set by agency’s clean driver record policy.  Use of personal vehicle required.

Starting Line Apartments, a Single-Site Supportive Housing Program, is a New York State Office of Mental Health funded program that provides long-term or permanent housing where residents can access the support services they require to live successfully in the community.Tenants will be assigned to a housing specialist on-site to assist with linkages in the community, provide advocacy, and learning how to maintain an apartment. 

Housing specialists are on-site Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm.
